Tis the season, Airtronics and Hobby People deliver the presents!

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving holiday. On Friday, at our Lake Forest Hobby People Store I saw a bumper sticker on the back of an old VW Bug that said “Life is for the Living” and another that said “R/C Pilots live longer.” I definitely believe the former is true and I sure hope the latter is true as well. Great hobbies should make us live longer so I do hope you are enjoying the hobby.

In the age of 2.4g there is no doubt that technology has really made RC better and we need not look any further than radios. What we are seeing today is a revolution in 2.4g that is changing the entire hobby industry. Frequency Hopping technology has made worrying about another modeler’s radio frequency a thing of the past. 2.4g is just better and will make the hobby better for everyone. The only area I am worried is that the cheapie 2.4g radios that I see on the market are causing problems, and I hope you all are careful to stick with quality. While the 2.4g is better, the quality of the system, and by that I mean the programming of the system, is what matters. The coding is what makes the system fast, hit-resistant, and just reliable.
The other area of concern is the cost of receivers, especially when you are making the conversion to 2.4g. I have spoken to many modelers who have 10 or more planes or vehicles, and the cost of conversion to 2.4g is too expensive.

Airtronics has really worked hard to make 2.4g the best choice and to make it more affordable. The new 6 and 7 CH air rxs, and the 3 and 4 CH surface rxs have been tested by the finest pilots and drivers in the world to ensure performance, and they receivers are priced right. As the bumper sticker implies, RC makes life better and Hobby People and Airtronics are working to do our part.

To all you Airtronics fans, I have great news. I have received confirmation from the factory that our shipment of SD10G the newest and finest 10 Channel radio we have ever tested, and the M11X which is the fastest, most feature packed car radio in the world have shipped by air tonight. This is our 3rd shipment of the M11X have almost sold out this shipment like the first two. Receivers are coming as well. The not so good news on the SD10G is that we will not be able to fill all orders with this shipment. Airtronics is working around the clock to build these radios so we can support all of our customers. Thank you again all you Airtonics fans, I think you will be excited as we are to receive your new radios.

Airtronics M11x

This is one of those mea culpa posts. The Airtronics M11x is one of the most important new R/C radios in the last 5 years, and we just did not order enough. We have received 2 shipments in the last 2 weeks, and yet still can’t keep these radios in stock. I am really sorry for this, and please know that we have more on order, and to best serve you, we are air freighting the shipments. I believe we will receive our next shipment within the next few days.

Demand has been shockingly high, and we were actually caught off guard by the amount of orders. The number of racers and drivers who just want the best radio has been incredible, and I want to thank all of our customers for your support and please know we are doing everything we can do to serve you better. The hobby has never seen a car radio with the advanced programming, ergonomics, and sheer speed. We have seen an unprecedented number of pro drivers requesting Airtronics Sponsorship because the racers know that this radio is a true competitive advantage, and they are right! How cool is this, today, Team Airtronics pilots in coordination with chief R&D Leader Mike G. have given final approval of programming to Airtronics. What does this mean?, well, final assembly and chip programming will begin tomorrow, and the SD-10g should be in stock within 30 days. Due to the tremendous demand, we will be air freighting our first shipments from Airtronics so we can get them here fast. Click here for the web gallery for the SD-10g. This radio has been one of the greatest achievements as we had more than 100 pilots participating in choosing features, programming testing, ergonomic and design ideas, and flight testing. Many of the best pilots in the world, Team Airtronics were instrumental in the radios design, and we thank them. More and more new Airplanes

Since I just received a comment from a fan of BH models, I thought I would let you know that within the next few months, BHMODELS will be releasing many new planes, form 46 size nitro to 50 cc gas. The R&D team at BH has been designing lots of new projects, and within next 10 days we will have gallery pages at hobbypeople.net giving more details. As many of you know, we at Hobby People are huge supporters of BH, the great building techniques, the high quality wood and covering, and the interesting subjects, combine to make this on our best selling airplane lines. SD-10g

As I hinted out earlier, the newest radio from Airtronics, the 10 Channel SD-g is now being final tested by Skip Miller, Cody Remington, and Mark Atwood. We anticipate first production to arrive in Mid May. I will tell you that the new radio has created huge excitement within the company. Long Beach Grand Prix

This is a really cool weekend in Southern California if you love cars. Just this weekend is the RCX show, a RC show from Air Age Media, as well as the Long Beach Grand Prix.

Today, I along with 2 of my team went to the practice runs at the Grand Prix. I wanted to visit the booth of HPI, Tamiya, and Kyosho where they were going to showcase Radio Control to tens of thousands of race fans. These companies are hugely invested in RC, and they putting on a great show of really great products. HPI was showing the Baja, Savages, on road vehicles, and most importantly, the creativity of our industry. I congratulate these companies in their efforts in bringing radio control to a whole new audience. If you attend the race, be sure to say swing by their booth and say hello.

SD-10 and M11X

I am sure we have all had a day like the one I had today, where everything goes right. Today we received the final samples of the new 10 Channel Airtronics SD-10. These radios are being sent for final final final testing by some of the best pilots in the world, and when they sign off on the programming, we will be ready to offer this superb radio to our customers. So far, this is the most anticipated airplane radio we have seen in years, and we think this is the best in class. Mike will be posting all the features on the website soon.
Then, we just received word that the new M11X 2.4g Airtronics radio will be shipping soon. This promises to be the fastest car radio in the world, and a must have for the drivers who want the best performance. It is clear that Airtronics is keen on regaining their place as the radio choice for the most discerning modelers. We will be finalizing gallery page within next few days, you will want to check out all the features.
To top it off, we are having a huge Airtronics sale which has been hugely popular and the radio and servo orders are literally backing up our warehouse, as we are trying to get all the orders out.
And finally, I had a long conversation with a customer who was shopping in our Fountain Valley store. He bought 2 Traxxas Slashes with all the necessary accessories, and was literally giddy with excitement. These were his first time shopping with Hobby People, first time buying RC, and he was blown away with the choices, and even better, with our service. Congrats to our Manager, Marvin, who is not only a great modeler, but a superb person.
As you can see, this is a day I wish would not end, although I think the momentum of today will continue tomorrow as well. I hope you had a great day as well.
