If you can think it, hobbyists do it!

May 8, 2009 by rcgeneral

So tonight I was doing some hobby searches and I found a video of a modeler who modified a XTM MMT to reach top speeds of 75mph+++++. This is crazy, a monster truck is insane at this speed. Click here to check out the video. Pretty cool and this is what makes the hobby so cool. If you can dream it, you can do it. From plastics, to helicopters, to cars, to planes, to boats, the hobby has something to offer anyone who has imagination. Very cool indeed. Let me know of any cool projects you are working on as I am interested to know. Take good care.

Airtronics SD-10g Ready to Go

May 1, 2009 by rcgeneral

How cool is this, today, Team Airtronics pilots in coordination with chief R&D Leader Mike G. have given final approval of programming to Airtronics. What does this mean?, well, final assembly and chip programming will begin tomorrow, and the SD-10g should be in stock within 30 days. Due to the tremendous demand, we will be air freighting our first shipments from Airtronics so we can get them here fast. Click here for the web gallery for the SD-10g. This radio has been one of the greatest achievements as we had more than 100 pilots participating in choosing features, programming testing, ergonomic and design ideas, and flight testing. Many of the best pilots in the world, Team Airtronics were instrumental in the radios design, and we thank them. We are so excited to release this radio, as we believe it is the finest designed 10 CH radio in the world, and we cannot wait to hear from pilots throughout the USA who will be flying this radio. If you have been waiting for this radio, be sure to backorder it right away as we have very few left from the first shipments.

Great flying.

More and more new Airplanes

April 28, 2009 by rcgeneral

Since I just received a comment from a fan of BH models, I thought I would let you know that within the next few months, BHMODELS will be releasing many new planes, form 46 size nitro to 50 cc gas. The R&D team at BH has been designing lots of new projects, and within next 10 days we will have gallery pages at hobbypeople.net giving more details. Click here and look thru the pages to see the great new planes that you will want to add to your fleet. As many of you know, we at Hobby People are huge supporters of BH, the great building techniques, the high quality wood and covering, and the interesting subjects, combine to make this on our best selling airplane lines. In addition, every time a model gets reviewed the number of new modelers grows, as the word of mouth adds to the reputation. There are 1000s of T28s at club fields and Hobby People is really proud to support this amazing line. The new Gas powered planes will add lots of new pilots, and we believe the new Mark Gas engines will be superbly paired to these new planes. These big gas airplanes and engines allow Hobby People to serve you in a whole new way, and with the qualtiy of BH and Mark, we believe we will offer you the finest products in the world. Very cool indeed.
Great Modeling,
Matt

April 19, 2009 by rcgeneral

As I hinted out earlier, the newest radio from Airtronics, the 10 Channel SD-g is now being final tested by Skip Miller, Cody Remington, and Mark Atwood. We anticipate first production to arrive in Mid May. A bit of info, the first shipment is nearing sold out, so if you have been waiting this radio, which we believe is best in class at the most aggressive price in the hobby, backorder it at hobbypeople.net or your local dealer. Mike has added some of the key features so click here for information.

I will tell you that the new radio has created huge excitement within the company. Each day I have employees and customers asking me when it will arrive, and as the arrival date gets closer, the excitement grows. Airtronics and our pilots have spent 1000’s of hours to ensure that this radio achieves the goals we set in our strategy meetings, best in class radio, with more features than any radio in the class, while saving our customers money with a very aggressive price. I am so happy with my team, and I am so thankful for their expertise, passion, and commitment to be the best. Yes, we have a lot of pride with this radio, and I look forward to hearing lots of success stories from SD-10g pilots throughout the world.

April 18, 2009 by rcgeneral

This is a really cool weekend in Southern California if you love cars. Just this weekend is the RCX show, a RC show from Air Age Media, as well as the Long Beach Grand Prix.

Today, I along with 2 of my team went to the practice runs at the Grand Prix. I wanted to visit the booth of HPI, Tamiya, and Kyosho where they were going to showcase Radio Control to tens of thousands of race fans. These companies are hugely invested in RC, and they putting on a great show of really great products. HPI was showing the Baja, Savages, on road vehicles, and most importantly, the creativity of our industry. I congratulate these companies in their efforts in bringing radio control to a whole new audience. If you attend the race, be sure to say swing by their booth and say hello.

This weekend, Hobby People is having a “Best of RC” sale, where we have put the best selling items on sale. HPI, Traxxas, XTM, Magnum, Airtronics, Associated, Proline, Hitec, and more, saving you money on the products you want. SD-10 and M11X

April 15, 2009 by rcgeneral

I am sure we have all had a day like the one I had today, where everything goes right. Today we received the final samples of the new 10 Channel Airtronics SD-10. These radios are being sent for final final final testing by some of the best pilots in the world, and when they sign off on the programming, we will be ready to offer this superb radio to our customers. So far, this is the most anticipated airplane radio we have seen in years, and we think this is the best in class. Mike will be posting all the features on the website soon.
Then, we just received word that the new M11X 2.4g Airtronics radio will be shipping soon. This promises to be the fastest car radio in the world, and a must have for the drivers who want the best performance. It is clear that Airtronics is keen on regaining their place as the radio choice for the most discerning modelers. We will be finalizing gallery page within next few days, you will want to check out all the features.
To top it off, we are having a huge Airtronics sale which has been hugely popular and the radio and servo orders are literally backing up our warehouse, as we are trying to get all the orders out.
And finally, I had a long conversation with a customer who was shopping in our Fountain Valley store. He bought 2 Traxxas Slashes with all the necessary accessories, and was literally giddy with excitement. These were his first time shopping with Hobby People, first time buying RC, and he was blown away with the choices, and even better, with our service. Congrats to our Manager, Marvin, who is not only a great modeler, but a superb person.
As you can see, this is a day I wish would not end, although I think the momentum of today will continue tomorrow as well. I hope you had a great day as well.
Take good care,
Matt

Toledo Update

April 12, 2009 by rcgeneral

Mike came back from Toledo with great excitement. He believes attendance was up at the show, and as always, the Toledo Weak Signals club did a great job organizing a superb show for their guests and exhibitors. Thank you.

Talking of attendance, the crowds were superb and were shopping for great values and new items. In the face of the economy, it was clear that the Toledo and surrounding communities have been hard hit, and too many modelers were out of work. Mike heard from many that the hobby was a wonderful opportunity to focus on better things, building, improving, and flying. Money was definitely tight but the excitement was high. We were really pleased that the hobby having a positive effect on our customer’s lives. We will work everyday to be even better.

Mike had about 15 of the Airtronics team pilots come by the booth and check out the new SD-10 as well as 1000’s of modelers wanting to get their hands on it, both to feel the great ergonomic touches and the superior programming. Other highlights were the Stylus module and some new servos that will be released in the coming months. There really is a feeling of excitement of the line and the great pricing that will lower the cost of modeling were appreciated.

One of the other really great releases is the new Hitec 2.4g radios and receivers. The prices appear to be spot on, and will make a many modelers really happy going forward. Congrats to Hitec.

So much good stuff, so little time. To all who attended and came to see us, thanks and we look forward to serving you again soon. Enjoy modeling, and enjoy your life.
