Reviews and more

April 10, 2008

I just saw this review about the BH Models Stik and thought some of you might want to check it out. Really nice review and confirms what we know, BH Models makes great flying ARFs. Here’s the link. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=764754

We have been very busy testing products. Craig Kaplan was testing the new 1/8 Buggy from SH out at Revelation Raceway and will be back there tomorrow doing further testing. This is the buggy that Greg Degani has been racing and winning and we should be getting a small shipment of the kit in mid-May. We will be showing the kit at RCX and hope to have Greg there as well.

Airplanes, Airplanes, and more airplanes, we have been out at the fields testing some new airplanes from BH Models. We will have many airplanes to show at RCX Russ has been using the RDS8000 in the airplanes and has enjoyed absolutely flawless radio performance.

One of the great rewards of being in the hobby industry is the opportunity to be involved in new products. Regardless of how busy we are each day, our R&D team will meet up and discuss the goings on of the hobby. Helicopters, batteries, cars, trucks, airplanes, motors, down to glow plugs, we will brain storm on ideas and reflect on comments from our customers. Ultimately, we are working to improve our customers experience and make our products more exciting. With all the hobby shows this month, it seems that we may be seeing the beginning of a resurgence in the RC, which is exciting. More kids have been at the shows and a whole lot of families looking for great activities to share. With so many newbies coming in, my team has been working on great 1st and 2nd products to make their experience successful. From the new XTM Rage to the Traxxas Brushless Rustler for Truck fans, we are bringing in more and more product to wow you. We are really passionate about the hobby and want to share our passion with you. It is a really creative and mentally challenging hobby, and we look forward to serving you real soon.

If you are looking for a great start into the hobby, but want to save $$$, I think building a plastic model is a great beginning project. Very creative, and you can almost spend as little or as much time perfecting your project. My son and I will be building a car starting this week. Great time and its cheaper than going to a movie, yet way more rewarding.

Take good care, and great modeling.

RDS 8000

February 1, 2008

Great News.   We have received our 1st shipment of the RDS8000 2.4g radios and have begun shipping.   FCC approval took an extra week which delayed the release, but we will get them out as quickly as possible.   For those of you who ordered early, enjoy, as the radio is really supert.   Jeff Fassbinder flew it in his heli at the AMA show with great success, as did Larry Miller at an airshow in AZ with the ASM A26 and Mosquito.   Please know that we are very much oversold as Airtronics is having a great challenge in producing radios as fast as our customers are ordering them.   For those still on backorder, we will receive another order in 3 weeks.

On the Helicopter front, we will be receiving our EF Cypher 3D heli in about 14 days.   This will be one of the must have helis for serious pilots, and we are excited to get them to you as soon as possible.  I had a friend come by the office to look at our show sample, and he placed an order on the spot.   He is a pretty serious pilot who has been flying for 25 years +, so I take his comments and appreciation very highly.

Thanks for all the great comments.   Great modelling to you all!

Update RDS8000 2.4g

December 23, 2007

Here is some really great news. We have just received word that our 1st shipment of the new RDS8000 is scheduled to arrive January 4, 2008. UPDATE:  THERE HAS BEEN A 10 DAY DELAY SO WE SHOULD BEGIN SHIPPING THE RDS8000S AROUND JANUARY 14, 2008.

We are really excited as this is the 1st 2.4g aircraft radio from Airtronics and we have incredible demand. The good news is that the shipment is arriving, the not so good news is demand is greater than supply so this shipment is already sold out. We have another shipment arriving 3 weeks later and then 3 weeks after that, so please be patient, as this radio is worth the wait.

Thanks for the great interest, and we look forward to getting you your radios.

What’s new and hot.

October 11, 2007

I just returned from a hobby show in Beijing China. A really interesting show as I was able to spend time with many of the best manufacturers in the world who flew in for the show. I spent time with the head engineer at Sanwa/Airtronics who brought over a pre-production sample of their new 2.4 RD8000. We had tested an earlier sample and were really impressed with speed and range, and were told that the engineers at Airtronics had succeeded in improving both with this new sample. We were also told that 15 samples would be at our office for flight testing when we returned, and on Monday, they did arrive. We are sending these radios to some of the best pilots in the USA for testing in high performance gliders, helis, planes. Really exciting.

This new radio will add to the line and provide the airplane modelers with an exceptional radio choice.
