Over the past few years the interest in RC electric airplanes, helicopters, and cars has grown steadily. However, in the past 12 months, the transition has exploded. Every day the percentages of electric compared to nitro grows. I understand the interest in electric, but I am surprised by how quickly the transition is occurring. So, I am asking all of you who read my blog to let me know what they are using, and why. Personally, we are running electric trucks now, and were running nitro a few years ago, but my son and I will have a nitro buggy as our next project. We are interested in the brushless electric, but for now, the nitro fascination is calling us.
Take good care, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey Matt,
While I am new to R/C(this year)Iflew Nitro-o49’s Mc,coy 19’s and so on in the sixty’s.It’s great to charge up a battery, throw a plane in the back seat of the family car and head out to the local park and fly for thirty minutes. No fuss,no mess ,no having to clean up the planes or car.I trained with a E fLITE Apprentice 15e electric, and a 40 series club nitro. The guys in the club were watching my near five foot wingspand stay up for litterally 30 minutes and I was wathing the nitro group refill planes 2 and 3 times to my once.I could tell a difference in the more powerfull nitro ,but its just like the new cars on the road .They are moving faster, they are quieter, and much smaller engines but they are getting the job done and done wellit is.I think we’re still seeing a small start up with electrics and a much bigger ending on it’s way.Electric vs Nitro. It’s hands down electric in this hanger and I am not seeing a change in this rookies future. But I do want to say,I wish I hadn’t let so many years get by me before I actually got into the R.C.world.I missed alot of excitement,a complete new education and a great group of guy’s.
Thanks again,
JC

Nitro is just more realistic. Thats all there is to it. If you don’t like tinkering with motors then go electric.
