Will you be hobbying more?

I know, gas prices and food prices are getting crazier. Historically, during times like these, people will nest, staying close to home and doing much less traveling, whether by car or plane. I think what is really interesting is that the more simple life is in most ways, better. Instead of searching for “excitement,” we find rewarding activities that bring us closer to our families and communities. One example, over the past few years, the number of meals that we “eat out” has exploded, yet I am not sure our quality of life has improved. My thought is that eating at home, together, is in fact a more enjoyable and happy experience. That is not to say that eating out can’t be enjoyable, but I think a lot of the time we eat out because it seems “simpler,” when it really is not simple or better.
Why is this relevant to hobbies? Well, hobbies are one of the activities that we return to when we are living to enjoy life more. Over the history of RC, plastic model building, trains, and slot cars, the interest has always been greatest in difficult economic times, when we want activities that are challenging, rewarding and can be done at home or nearby. So, I am interested to learn if you will be spending more time enjoying your hobbies over the summer. Let me know, and if possible, ask your friends to respond to this question as well. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Take good care,
Matt

Much more. Just retired and getting back into modeling. I and have been building the Black Horse Mohawk, and putting in the electric motors. My grandson has been flying for a while, and is helping me out. I’ll send a review after maiden flight.

With 4 kids, definitely staying close to home this summer. We may do some short road trips, but mostly we will find activities that are close to home. I will hopefully be building a new airplane, and will be trying to get my boys to help. I have wanted to get them into RC for a while, now seems like a perfect time.

Yep. No way I can get away this summer. Too expensive. I have an old Associated RC10GT that I will be cleaning up to run again. A friend of mine just bought a heli, so I would like to try to fly helis as well this summer.

I met you today outside your store. I was with my son and we talked about starter planes. I ended up with the Easy Star with radio included that you suggested. We are really excited to get started and learn to fly. We hope to buy the flight simulator that we tested in the store soon. First time ever in your store, can’t believe have not been in before. We are going to go by the Estancia park to see the club this weekend. Thanks for all the time today.

I have been flying for years, and will be flying a lot this summer. Probably about same as in the past.

I cannot believe how many new planes you have now. Your lake forest store is loaded. I stopped shopping with you a few years ago because you didn’t have any selection of airplanes, but i saw a P36 at the field and wanted one. I have 2 black horse planes now, the best arfs i have ever built. Keep em coming.
